Objectives
Design, develop, test, and demonstrate a hybrid 5G IoT terrestrial-satellite solution for the dry containers along the near-shore and off-shore scenario. NB-IoT transmission delivers IoT information collected from sensors on shipboard containers (e.g. temperature, humidity, pressure, and customized alarms) to a OneM2M IoT application platform usable by a monitoring web app.

Benefits
The product enables shipping and logistics companies to increase operational efficiency, reduce risks and cargo-related losses, improve service reliability, and lower operating costs through real-time maritime visibility, continuous cargo monitoring, global connectivity, and data-driven decision making across the entire supply chain.
Challenges
Lack of real-time cargo visibility at sea, connectivity gaps in remote maritime areas, delayed anomaly detection, cargo losses and damages, inefficient monitoring processes, and limited data availability for operational decision-making.
