Objectives
The aim of this project is to develop a MVPPU configuration for a 5-6kW Hall Effect Thruster. The outcome will be an engineering model of a market-oriented product with competitive performances in terms of cost, mass, volume and efficiency while maintaining the configurability and advance control logic of other Airbus Crisa PPUs.
Benefits
This development allows our MVPPU concept to be compatible with several thruster technologies and voltage ranges.
This PPU is designed to be fully industrialized, and therefore unit price will be very competitive reducing subsystem costs.
Features
5-6kW PPU with a re-configurable output voltage range that can operate at 300V and 600V while maintaining the efficiency. PPU modular design allows the PPU to be scaled in terms of power at the anode supply. The anode supply could be scaled up to 10kW.
Challenges
Main challenge is to develop a modular product for HET electrical propulsion subsystems maintaining performances while respecting costs and weight constraints based on our MVPPU concept.
System Architecture
This project is limited to the unit development/adaptation to a HET Thruster.
Plan
Project is intended to develop a Engineering Model (TRL5) PPU to be delivered by June 2026 including a coupling test with a Hall Effect thruster. A PDR will be held in April 2025, prior to EM manufacturing.
Current Status
Requirement Review was successfully passed on July 2024.
